RE: women who tow

I have driven mine across country. I sometimes have to go around twice when I am trying to back in. I don't always get it on the first try or the even the third try. I never ask a man to help. Sorry they just think and articulate a different way then we do. I have no problem when my sister or female friends help guide my trailer back but when you get a man back there he just doesn't give the right signals and then gets upset easily. Most of the time its just me and the dogs so I do it all by myself. Last Feb I took my friend and her husband to Death Valley for the weekend and I told her before we left that when I had to park the trailer she had to take Joe on a walk because I didn't want him getting worked up about how I parked. She did and there was no issues. The worst comments I have ever heard is actually here on this website. Guys really never value our opinion and talk right over us when we have a suggestion or the make stupid references to their DW like she is an idiot or to delicate. Mind you not all the guys on here are like that but a number of them are. Every time I see DW I want to scream she not a doll that needs to be pampered you know. Sorry if I offended any of you but I am an independent woman used to having to do things herself guess thats why I have never married or dated in a long time.

RE: winterizing in california?

I live in Las Vegas and my weather is pretty similar to So Cal and I have not ever in the past three years winterized my camper. The dealers and people who have experience camping out here all said you don't need to. I haven't had a problem yet.

RE: A question about 17 foot hybrid single axle

I have a 16 ft and have had no issues. Mine is a 2005 and I replace the tires this year. I have a sway bar and use a 2005 Envoy that has a tow rating of 5,100 lbs. Trailer weights 2800. The only thing I don't like is that I don't go up the side of the mountains as fast as I would like but thats what you get with a 6 cylander engine.

RE: How long does it take to set up your HTT?

It takes me less than 10 min to set up my htt once I have it parked. It's not that hard unlock the ends, lay them down and attach the tent ends to the velco and stick the polls in all done.

RE: Planning a trip to Glacier NP next summer can you advise?

Make sure you take your passport so you can cross the border into Canada and go to Waterton Park in Canada. It is the other half of Glacier just on the Canadian Side. You will also want to walk around their little village they have there and be sure to have lunch at Prince Albert Hotel. I think it was built back in the 30s & 40s it is really cool.

RE: Questions before crossing to U.S.

To Jplunket I went to the list and saw Dog & Cat Fur and I thought god you got to be kidding how can I get the fur the dogs leave on the seats of the car out of the car no amount of vacuuming would ever get all the fur out of the car or the trailer. Then I actually read what they meant and who in their right mind would skin a dog or a cat and sell their fur. Yuk. Anyway when I first saw it it gave me a laugh thinking about how you get all of your animals fur out of your vehicle.

RE: Help a guy out! Small Trailer for a Honda Pilot!

I have the smallest Kodiak Hybrid and it weight 2800 lbs. My previous tv was rated for 3500lbs and I had to replace it for something that was rated 5000 lbs. I with the guy who recommended the TAB trailer (he said tear drop but their called TABs) They can sleep 3 have a nice little kitchen in them and I think they weigh less than 2,000lbs. The only thing they don't have is a bathroom and all campgrounds have bathrooms so no problem.

RE: Towels beside the toilet issue???

StLooolyRoo way to stand up for us women. Sometimes these men slap us around on this forum and you gave it out but good. But that is how it is for us women who have come from St. Louis we can dish it out as much as they can pile it on.

RE: Towels beside the toilet issue???

I just store mine in my bathtub since it is really to small to use and most places I go I don't have water hookups I don't use the shower. Its great for all the bedding as well

RE: what is the best 17' or 19' hybrid out there??

Mine has the same heating duct in my bathroom so it stays warm in the winter also. It nice how several manufacturers thought of the customer.

As for the trailer itself, many campers smaller than 19' have a wet bathroom meaning the toilet is in there and everything gets wet when you shower (by design). Those 19' and larger typically have a separate shower inside a tiny, but otherwise real, bathroom.

The 16 ft Kodiak Scamper also has a separate tub/shower and toilet as well as a sink and medicine cabinet just like the Jayco 17 ft so you are not showering over the toilet. Just look around and see what fits your needs the best. Look at several models and take whatever the salesmen say with a grain of salt. Their trying to make a deal in this tough market.

RE: 2005 Kodiak Hybrid Advise

I like my Kodiak it is a 2005 16ft I only paid 13,500 for it new in 2005 so the price looks a little steep to me.

RE: what is the best 17' or 19' hybrid out there??

I had a pontiac Aztek that was rated to pull 3500 lbs. Couldn't do it with a 16 ft 2,800 lb hybrid. It is not the engine so much as the frame as it had a minivan frame which is not built to pull trailers. I had to trade in a 1 year old Aztek to get a GMC Envoy now I have no problems.
If you want something bigger than a pup but not huge try the 16ft Kodiak Scamper it is made by Thor Industries and I think it is found under Dutchman. Anyway it has 2 queen beds (one on each end) and then the table folds out to be a full size bed. It has everything your wife probably wants, a microwave, stove, oven, sink of course, good size refrigerator & freezer along with a bathroom and small (and I mean small tub). Also heat and air condition and a place to put a small TV. I have had mine for 3 years and am happy with it. It weights 2800 lbs.

RE: women who tow

I tow all the time myself. I have a 16 ft trailer, 2 dogs and grown daughter no husband. We used to tent camp but after I turned 40 I didn't want to sleep on the ground anymore so I bought my camper. I hook it up, park it and tow it by myself. Daughter doesn't like the camper she calls it mobile hoteling. Too bad for her.

RE: Hook up by yourself devices?

You know I have been hooking up the trailer for the past 3 years by myself and have used nothing. I just know where in the back window I should aim for and then when I think I am close I get out and check and mover accordingly. That costs nothing. Practice is all you need no fancy gizmos just a little practice and faith. Practice Zero Dollars, experience Priceless.
